Forest Hills

Forest Hills is an established residential neighborhood located in the central section of the New York City borough of Queens, bordered by Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Corona, and Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Known for its beautiful tree-lined streets, historic architecture, strong sense of community, School District 28, and convenient access to Manhattan, Forest Hills offers a unique blend of urban convenience and suburban charm. The neighborhood features a wide variety of housing styles, including elegant Tudor and Colonial homes, brick townhouses, prewar apartment buildings, cooperatives, condominiums, and luxury high-rise residences. Forest Hills Gardens, a private planned community within the neighborhood, is especially known for its distinctive English-inspired architecture, cobblestone streets, and landscaped gardens.

While much of Forest Hills is residential, Austin Street serves as the heart of the neighborhood’s commercial district and is lined with popular restaurants, cafes, boutiques, bakeries, and national retailers. The neighborhood offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere with a mix of longtime local businesses and modern dining and shopping destinations. Forest Hills is also home to the historic Forest Hills Stadium, a renowned outdoor concert venue that has hosted major musical performances and sporting events for decades.

Residents enjoy access to numerous parks and recreational amenities, including nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Forest Park, and smaller neighborhood green spaces. Forest Park features hiking trails, playgrounds, tennis courts, horseback riding trails, and one of the city’s largest urban oak forests. The neighborhood is known for its walkability, well-maintained streets, and highly desirable residential setting.

Forest Hills offers exceptional transportation and accessibility throughout New York City and Long Island. The neighborhood is served by the Long Island Rail Road station on Queens Boulevard, offering a quick 15-minute commute to Midtown Manhattan. Multiple MTA subway lines, including the E, F, M, and R trains, along with numerous local and express bus routes, provide convenient public transportation options. Major roadways, including the Long Island Expressway, Grand Central Parkway, Jackie Robinson Parkway, and Queens Boulevard, offer easy access by car to Manhattan, Brooklyn, Long Island, and nearby airports.
